A Rare George II Mahogany Tea Table
English, circa 1745
The rectangular solid mahogany top carved with ribbon and flowers over a convex frieze, finely carved with interlaced strap work over a gadrooned moulding.
The four cabriole legs, carved with scrolling acanthus and terminating in hairy paw feet.
Height: 28 ¾ in (73cm), Width: 30 ½ in (77.5cm), Depth: 15 ¼ in (39cm)
DESCRIPTION
This exceptional table displays a level of detailing which is unusually fine and which sets it apart from similar examples.
A card table in the Percival Griffiths Collection is of almost identical form except it has ball and claw feet.
