A George II Period Mahogany Concertina Action Card Table 

Attributed to Giles Grendey 

English, circa 1750

The rectangular top veneered with well figured flame figured mahogany with moulded edge opening to an interior with four gaming wells and lined with blue linen. The veneered frieze supported by four well shaped cabriole legs with carved acanthus foliage to the knees and terminating in ball and claw feet.

This concertina action card table opens to become a full square finished on all sides and is ideal for use as a gaming or as a centre table. It has survived in remarkable condition, retaining an untouched colour and patina. The carving on the legs is typical of Grendey's work.
