PROVENANCE
Killiney Castle. Co Dublin
This table has striking similarities to a pair of gilt wood side tables at Malahide Castle, Co Dublin. These tables were supplied to one of the Talbot brothers between 1730 and 1740. The distinctive Bacchic lion masks holding the oak leaf swags, sacred to Jupiter, would indicate the same maker. A similar table appears on the trade label of William Wilkinson of Chequer Lane Dublin.
