A rare William and Mary period floral marquetry chest of drawers of wonderful colour and patina

English, circa 1680

Height: 36”(91cm) Width: 38”(96cm) Depth: 22 ½”(57cm)

The top with a central panel and four flanking panels of floral marquetry of birds and sea creatures issuing from arabesque acanthus foliage in walnut, holly, padouk and ebony, bordered by a crossbanding of walnut. The two short and three long drawers similarly decorated, raised on turned bun feet.
