A rare early 19 th century hexagonal Gothic hall lantern

English, circa 1830

Overall height: 42 ½”(108cm) Diameter: 21 ¼”(54cm)

The hexagonal gilt bronze frame with glazed sides flanked by pilasters, surmounted with quatrefoils and gothic bosses, supported by arches issuing from a coronet.

An identical lantern is in the collection of the Marquis of Bath at Longleat House in Wiltshire (see Montgomery – Massingberd, H. & Sykes, C.S.;1994, Great Houses of England & Wales, Laurence King Publishing Ltd, London, p.162)
