The design of these chairs can confidently be attributed to the workshops of George Bullock and the design to Richard Bridgens, who was a key participant in George Bullock’s business until 1838. A similar pair of chairs designed by Bridgens and featured in the Wilkinson Tracings can be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum and the second in the City Museum and Art Gallery, Birmingham.
The marquetry on these chairs is identical to details on furniture supplied by Bullock to Great Tew, Oxfordhsire.
